Working towards the realization of a well-endowed society where citizens live in dignity and prosperity.
K-PEN was founded and registered in Kenya in the year 2000, primarily to challenge poverty at the community level, with special emphasis on women and youth living in urban slums and rural districts of Kenya.
To develop and provide suitable, sustainable and comprehensive livelihood opportunities for the marginalized members of the community, with special emphasis on women and youth, to improve their health especially SRHR, Human Rights, and income capacities so as to enhance their quality of lives and enable them live in dignity and prosperity.
The organization was started by a group of women involved in community and women’s empowerment activities who felt that more women and youth were being marginalized economically, physically and psychologically with each passing day. This led K-PEN to start addressing the social issues that lead to the marginalization.
To date, K-PEN has carried out various programs with the help of donors and partners to provide sustainable solutions to the rural communities.

Individual and group therapy sessions (as seen in the above photo) are some of the counseling types that are provided by K-PEN counselors. It is worth noting that group therapy sessions are a source of great hope and solidarity for people living with HIV/AIDS. K-PEN also provide food supplement to identified HIV/AIDS positive bed ridden persons within the project areas. This is carried out under the Home Based Care program.
K-PEN supports orphans through providing them with uniforms (as seen in the above photo) and also supports the grandmothers taking care of orphaned children. This is done by providing them with beehives for honey and training them on goat rearing for milk production. This ensures they have a sustainable source of income to provide food and education to the children.
We offer training to youths identified by the group members and enrolled in different fields shown below:
We design and disseminate age appropriate IEC materials on SRHR for the women, girls and youth in the community. We also carry out radio talk shows and community dialogues where we encourage the women and girls to take control of their sexual and reproductive health and make informed decisions on their health and wellness.
